A unique coming together of Australian and Indian poetry with a visual feast of dance and music. Tagore's Vision highlighted the Poet Laureate of India Sri Rabindranath Tagore’s vision and the poetry of Australian poet, Kelvin Brown. The evening unfolded with readings by Kelvin Brown of his poems, each interpreted through dance and music. This was followed by a dance ballet in the Indian genre of Tagore’s “Chandalika”, the story of the untouchable girl which highlights Tagore as a social reformer.

The Australia India Institute hosted renowned Indian television commentator and interviewer Mr Karan Thapar for an informal roundtable discussion. Mr Thapar began his career in journalism with The Times in Lagos, Nigeria and later worked as their lead writer on the Indian subcontinent, a role he continued to work in until 1981. In 1982 he joined London Weekend Television where he worked for the next 11 years.
