Echoing W. H. Morris-Jones’s 1957 classic, Parliament in India, this talk offers an overview of Dr Sen’s research on the contemporary Indian parliament. Based on interviews, attendance at parliament and a wide range of other sources, the research explores how parliament today functions, how its members relate to each other and to their constituents and the extent to which party, ideology and regional loyalties influence the conduct of business. How has the Indian parliament changed since the days of Jawaharlal Nehru and W. H. Morris-Jones?
