Inaugural Gandhi Oration

The Inaugural Gandhi Oration was presented by Professor Patrick Dodson, Director of the Indigenous Policy and Dialogue Research Unit at the University of NSW in Sydney on Martyr’s Day. Professor Dodson was chosen as the inaugural presenter and his life’s work exemplifies the ideals of Gandhi demonstrated through his great leadership in promoting and fostering reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians-  work which has been marked by great tolerance and compassion.

The oration was preceded by a remembrance ceremony to commemorate the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi bust on the UNSW Library lawn.

The Gandhi Oration is an initiative of the University of NSW and the Australia India Institute.
