Dr Nick Hill

Director, External Affairs

Dr Nick Hill is the General Manager of the Australia India Institute with a responsibility for operations and support to the Director in strategy, planning and policy. His PhD research investigated Arts Patronage issues, with fieldwork undertaken in rural India, based in Pune for two and a half years. The main focus for this work was the Tamasha Theatre of Maharashtra, allowing him to travel extensively in the region and additionally to present at conferences, interact with policy makers, attend events and explore other aspects of performance across India. Mr Vinod Mirchandani

Director, Operations

Vinod Mirchandani, Associate Director, is based in Mumbai and provides a base in India for the Institute to increase its in-country engagement. He also provides strategic advice in developing its priorities and programs. He has over 10 years of experience in account management, business development, implementation of service strategy, staff training and development, market research and change management. Read more

 


Ms Elise Fagone

Director, Events and Programmes

Elise Fagone completed a Bachelor of Communications (Public Relations) at Victoria University and then worked in their Business Systems Unit (International). In 2007 Elise moved to the University of Melbourne working in marketing at Melbourne International. Read more

 


 

Mr Shanka De Silva

Office Manager

Shanka De Silva is an HR and business management generalist with over nine years of experience in multi-national & local organizations with international exposure, expertise in both strategic and general business management dimensions. Before his current position as the Office Manager for Australia India Institute Shanka’s most recent postings were as an HR Consultant (Policy & Research) at University of Melbourne – Business Centre – Administrative Divisions and as a Human Resources Manager at Holcim (Lanka) Ltd. He graduated from the University of Delhi – India in Industrial Relations & Human Resources Management and successfully completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from University of Colombo – Sri Lanka. He is also Certified Professional Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).


Mr Souresh Roy

Research Assistant to the Director

Souresh Roy is Research Assistant to the Director at the Australia India Institute, whose responsibility is to monitor international and regional relations, security issues and associated policy challenges with particular reference to the role of China in the region and its impact on both India and Australia. He also initiates research support to the Director through accessing appropriate data and document in India and elsewhere for utilisation in broader projects. Souresh has a Masters in Conflict Analysis and Peacebuilding, and an M.Phil in International Relations (specializing in Diplomacy and Disarmament issues) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.


Ms Tess Gross

Executive Assistant to the Director

Tess Gross originally trained as a secondary school teacher in History and English but has spent most of her working career in tertiary institutions including both Melbourne and Monash Universities. She has a Bachelor of Arts Honours (Hist) and Graduate Diploma (Ed). Her work has mainly focused on Student Support, Student Administration and in Executive Assistant Roles. Read more
