Harish Rao was born in Chennai, India but grew up in Melbourne, where he attended Melbourne Grammar School before completing higher studies at the Australian National University and Monash University. He has an MBA (Finance) & Graduate Certificate in Asian Business from Monash University and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Since 2004 Harish has been the face of the Sundaram Finance Group in Australia, a US $4 billion financial services conglomerate, based in Chennai, India. In Australia, the group is involved with Financial and Business Process Outsourcing through its subsidiary, Sundaram Business Services Limited.
Harish has been involved in the Australia India business space for over two decades, notably having set up the first TGA approved herbal facility in Kerala India & pioneering business processes outsourcing for accounting firms in Australia. He has also assisted many Australian companies with their foray into India and led numerous business delegations to India. Most recently, Harish was instrumental with the establishment of the Australia India Leadership Dialogue for the Australia India Institute.
Harish is currently the Chair of the Australian World Orchestra and currently sits on the Board of Guide Dogs Victoria, the Australian Friends of ASHA, the World Mosquito Program and a number of other Advisory Boards.
